Setup Guide for Wireless Hub (Rock64)

How to Install 3DQue Software on a Wireless Hub (Rock64)

If you purchased a Wireless Hub from our online store, your hub comes pre-loaded with the software package you have chosen.

1. What you'll need

Wireless Hub Kit:

32 GB MicroSD card
Rock64 5V power supply
USB Wifi adapter
Enclosure + cooling fan

You will also need a USB/SD to micro SD adapter

2. Input Wifi Information (2 minutes)

Wireless Hubs bought before Feb 2022 require 2.4G Wifi and will not work with 5G Wifi. Hubs from after Feb 2022 will connect to both 2.4G and 5G networks.

If your network is a 'corporate' network (E.g. not a standard home wifi system, your workplace has an IT team, you're a school/university, you work in a shared workplace, etc.), please contact 3DQue support for setup assistance.

First, we need to tell your Wireless Hub how to connect to your WiFi network.

If you want to use an ethernet connection instead, you can skip this step.

  1. Remove the SD card from your Wireless Hub. It is springloaded. Gently push it in, and it'll pop out.

  2. Plug in the SD card to your computer. Some windows may appear saying "You need to format the disk in drive X: before you can use it. Format now?". Select Cancel and close them all.

  3. One of the new drives on your computer should be named "boot". Open this drive.

  4. Open the file named "wifi.txt" using a text editor like Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).

  5. Fill in your WiFi name (SSID) and password.

Make sure there are no spaces after the colon or at the end of your SSID/password.

    Example wifi.txt:

        # Put your wifi information below, it is case sensitive. Type it directly after the colon:like this.
    network-name:Example Network Name
  6. Save wifi.txt, then safely eject the SD card from your computer.

3. Plug Everything in (1 minute)

Make sure the Hub is turned off and unplugged.

  1. Insert micro SD card into the Hub. The SD slot is spring-loaded. Push until the card clicks into place.

  2. Connect a USB cable from your Hub to your 3D printer.

  3. Connect WiFi antenna OR Ethernet cable:

    1. WiFi: Plug in WiFi antenna. Ensure the antenna is tightly screwed onto the USB block. You can do this by gently turning the plastic where the golden metal contact is exposed.
    2. Ethernet: Connect an ethernet cable.
  4. Connect the power supply. Your Hub should power on and begin booting up.

4. Log in to 3DQue Software (5 minutes)

On first powerup, please allow for up to 15 minutes for the Wireless Hub to self-configure and adapt settings to your printer. It will be ready to use when you see an IP address appear on your printer's LCD screen. Please do not unplug the hub during this process. Subsequent boot-ups will be much faster.

4.1 Finding Your IP Address

To access your Wireless Hub from your computer, you will first need to confirm the Wireless Hub's IP address. When the Wireless Hub successfully boots and connects to the internet, your Wireless Hub's IP address will show up on the printer’s LCD in the format

find ip

‍If you are having issues finding the IP or unsure if your Wireless Hub is functioning correctly, please see our Network Troubleshooting Page.

4.2 Log in From Your Browser

  1. On your computer, open a browser and enter the IP address followed by “:8080”. You should now see the 3DQue login screen.
  2. Sign in to your 3DQue account. If you don't have an account, please create one.
